i put on my coat and strike up conversation
with myself as i walk down the street

i sit in my room in total isolation
from my thoughts and everyone i meet

you are fighting sleep but you don’t care
you act like you’re asleep when no one’s there
you’re going up in flames with long black hair
and i’m fading into deep to your stare

you put on your shirt and fight with affirmations
for an hour before you go to sleep

you’ve been way too tired with a lack of motivation
to be the kind of person that you’d want to be

and i am struggling with the same thoughts as always
i am trapped in my room and you’re running through the hallways
of the back of my mind and the front of my point of view
but I don’t have the breath to thank you
